The North Bellmore Fire Department protects 4.3 square miles of community encompassing all of North Bellmore and also stretching to encompass parts of Wantagh, East Meadow, Bellmore, North Merrick and Levittown. The North Bellmore Fire Department provides round-the-clock firefighting and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 seven days a week, 365 days a year. The North Bellmore Fire Department prides itself on the delivering the highest degree of firematic and emergency medical services available today, being delivered to the public by a fully volunteer staff.

Services We Provide
The North Bellmore Fire Department provides a wide variety of services to the general public that lives within the confines of its district. Each year, NBFD responds to over 1200 alarms and provide other wide encompassing services, some of which are:

Fire Suppression
This is North Bellmore Fire Department’s main service provided to it’s citizens. North Bellmore Fire Department responds to over 400 fire alarms a year varying from automatic alarm calls, brush fires, vehicle fires, house fires and building fires.

Emergency Medical Services
This constitutes the bulk load of NBFD’s work and tallies almost 700 alarms a year for us. We will respond to any medical emergency in our district to provide round the clock emergency medical care through our staff of state certified technicians. Unfortunately, due to high call volume in this area this service is only reserved for medical emergencies and the NBFD asks local citizens to use due regard when phoning them for non-emergency medical situations.

Hazardous Material Operations
NBFD members are qualified to respond to numerous Hazardous Material situations including Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Propane Leaks and/or Fires, Hazmat Spills, and Natural Gas Leaks among others.

Auto Accidents
NBFD is equipped to respond to all auto accidents in their district and not only provide emergency medical care to all involved but are are trained to extricate passengers using the Jaws of Life and similar tools.

Technical Rescue Team
North Bellmore is one of a handful of towns in Nassau County that boasts it’s own TRT. The TRT are experts in the fields of building collapse, trench rescue, high-angle rescue, and rope rescue.

Dispatching North Bellmore is also one of the few departments in Nassau County that can boast it’s own dispatching facilities which handles the 24/7/365 interactions between citizens in need and North Bellmore’s finest. Any call placed to the North Bellmore Fire Department Hotline is guaranteed to be answered by one of North Bellmore’s highly trained dispatchers, who through cutting edge technology will alert the members of the department and direct them to the emergency situation safely.
